GSDC of Virginia - November 4, 1979 --- Best Opposite Sex "This large, spectacular mover, possessing a magnificent head, was hard pressed for his award by the Winners Dog. Both animals were very similar in type and in movement. I made my final decision on "Charlie" because of maturity and stronger secondary sex characteristics. I believe that "Charlie" has still a ways to go to reach his prime at which time I expect him to be one of the spectacular showman and probably one of the top German Shepherd show dogs in the East." ~ Samuel Lawerence
GSDC of American---1979---Select #6 "A 28 month old, large, well pigmented dog, a bit on the leg and needing more development. He is somewhat fine in bone and needs improvement in front and could be tighter in elbows. His sound, far reaching gait are the reason for this high placing. His temperament is very good and sound." ~ Ernest Loeb
GSDC of American---1981---Select #11 "Medium size, excellent pigmented.
Very good forehand and nice rear assembly. Good back with a little
roach over the loin. Some shortness of croup and a nice short hock.
Good masculinity, nice eye, ears could be stronger. cover a lot
of ground well and without a great deal of effort. Lacks a little
front rear when at a full trot. Could improve coming and going."
GSDC of American---1982---Select #4 "He has received a Select
rating in 1979. Large upstanding dog with outgoing temperament and
an excellent mover. One would criticize the carriage of an ear which
is tilted slightly towards the inside and his croup a bit steep." Mohawk-Hudson GSDC---April 22, 1984---Best of Breed "7 years old from that incredible combination of Ch. Doppelt-Tay's Hawkeye and out of the premier bitch Ch. Amber's Flair. There is little I can say about Ironsides that I have not already said before. He fills my eye and my heart as full as he did the first time I saw him in 1978 at Western Mass. and put him Best of Breed at 14 months from the Novice Class over Specials. I have the honor of having been astute enough to have given him his first Best of Breed. Thank God he was there and of such quality. He deserved it. He still deserves it. He has the perfect outline of the Classic Standard German Shepherd Dog. He is not overdone and is "all of a piece." His beautiful outline is so very dear to those who revere so many of the great ones who have gone before. He is a class act all by himself. But now he has to move over it bit for his daughter. She is quite an encore. I awarded Daphne Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex to her sire." - Judge Barbara Lee Williams
