Do you LOVE Dogs? Do you LOVE to draw, paint, or color?   If so, this contest is for you! 

The German Shepherd Dog Club of America is sponsoring a young artists’ contest open to students in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades. We’re looking for you to represent what fun activities you can enjoy with a beloved dog (you do not have to have a German Shepherd Dog, all dogs are wanted!). The theme of your artwork can be one of the following: 

  • Create an image showing an activity you enjoy doing with your dog, 
  • Or if you do not have a dog (yet!), create an image of your dream dog you and what you would like to do with your faithful companion.

Click here to see pictures and read about all the fun competitions you and your dog can enjoy. Or perhaps you and your dog love less-competitive  activities such as walking, reading, playing ball  or just hanging out together.  

Here are the requirements for your artwork::

  • It can be between 8 inches to 12 inches in width and 10 inches to 14 inches in length.
  • Can be any shape (square, rectangle, circle, oval, etc) just can not be less than 10 inches or greater than 14 inches.
  • Paper, scratch board, clayboard, canvas board, poster board are all acceptable
  • Pencil, pen and ink, crayon, pastel, colored pencil, watercolors, acrylics, markers, oil pastel, charcoal are all acceptable media.
  • Must be original work, no tracing, or copying (you can use photographs as reference for your work)
  • May not be computer generated
  • No photographs please, only drawings or paintings

Fill in this entry form and send the form with your work (in a box or rolled in a tube) to Susan Sullivan 88 Kinne Rd. Canterbury CT. 06331 postmarked no later than September 23, 2016. Judging will be September 27, 2016. All artwork will b e displayed at Purina Farms in Gray Summit Missouri during the German Shepherd Dog Club of America National specialty. October 11-15, 2016.  Awards will be made by grade level and the following categories: 

  • pencil/ink/charcoal,
  • crayon/colored pencil/scratchboard/markers/pastel.
  • watercolor/acrylics and oil painting

Winners will be notified by e-mail and invited to attend the dog show with their parents.  However, attendance is not required to receive the awards.
